I'll See You In My Dreams (1951)
I just happened to watch this on TCM Channel today and I loved it. The movie features Danny Thomas as Gus Kahn the lyricist and Doris Day as his wife. I’m a huge fan of black and white movies and musicals in general so I tuned in.
“In Chicago in 1908, aspiring lyricist Gus Kahn begs music company clerk Grace LeBoy to read some lyrics he has written. Although she brusquely dismisses...

Typographic Doodling and Calligrapy
There’s something about beautiful handwriting that catches my fancy. I love it and I find it very romantic. In each curl of a letter, one is sure the writer has put a lot of care into it. It requires precision, but even if it does not turn out as planned, it’s still beautiful because the imperfection makes it unique. It’s handcrafted, and nothing is ever like it.
I don’t...

Project Shelf Makeover - Putting It All Back
I am proud to say Project Shelf Makeover is now done! It took us three whole days to finish everything, from sanding the bookcase to painting it, sorting all our books, documents, CDs and trinkets and putting them all back to the shelf again. The whole project wasn’t only about refurbishing an old furniture, it also allowed us to re-examine what were the things that we needed to let go of in...

Project Shelf Make Over - Execution Day 1
Today is the start of Project Shelf Makeover. The idea started when I bought a couch for the family room and noticed that the wall-to-wall bookshelf is still not painted nor varnished. I researched and bought paint that would complement the warm tone of our place, then my mom contacted our carpenter who would actually kickstart the actual makeover.
So this morning, after deciding to take a leave...

I’m inlove with this film, the story behind it and the music it surrounds itself with.
It also reminds me of someone with so much passion for playing music.
Ahhh couldn’t you just drown yourself into jazz? I love it!

Project Shelf Makeover - The Start Of An Idea
The couch arrived this weekend and it fit perfectly into the family room. Aaaaah! New couch that can fit three to four people! I was thrilled to have it placed in the middle of the family room and discovering that it was the exact measurement of the space that it was meant for. I was trying to get used to the new sofa when I realized the shelf that we had in the middle of the room was still not...

Nothing Like Live Music
Just got home from Casa Nami at Jupiter, Makati. Jim, Miwa, Chiqui, Regie, Nouf and I watched several awesome bands play—Severo, Salamin, Kjwan and Malay to name a few. I just needed to write down some of my musings before hitting the sack or I might forget this when I wake up. Besides, that Krispy Kreme Cafe Mocha I took early last night has a high and mighty effect on me still.

Mobile Blogging. Whut?!
So this is a first. I just got off work and I’m meeting up with Jim in a few. We’ve been both so busy these days and all we have is an hour or two to catch up and talk about the day that was.
I am comforted by the sound of his voice when he asks, “How was your day?”. I’m still glad that he asks even if he will be the receiver of a series of rants and ramblings.

Music Purging
Purging music from my 30GB iPod is painful. I’ve had it since 2006, and it’s still in good working condition except for the noticeable shortage of battery life. It changed my life for sure, and introduced me to several tons of music that I would otherwise listen to if I didn’t have that storage capacity at my disposal. Even with the release of the iPod touch and the 160GB...

Starting Over with Anything On Paper
Let’s think of this as starting over. I’ve been intermittently blogging since 2002 because there are times when I don’t have the words to write, so I don’t. There are also times when I write not online but in my private journal. Lately I’ve been just too busy with work that I don’t have time to do any introspection. It was just work work work and voila, the day...

Speed Dial #5
“Congratulations, you made it to my speed dial. Number five, actually—right smack at the middle. So whenever I put my phone in my back pocket and accidentally call you up, I could make up a lame excuse and say sorry, it was just an accident. Then I’d ask how you’ve been, coz we’re in the call anyways so I might as well see what you’ve been up to. That’s...
